About the Author
Originally from New Mexico, Betsy worked in radio broadcasting for several years in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, and New Mexico. She served twelve years in the US Army Reserves as a military police officer and drill sergeant. During the same time period, she worked as a police officer, police sergeant and state trooper with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. She currently is a Lieutenant for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, assigned to the Public Affairs Division. Betsy holds associate's degrees in Journalism from Northern Oklahoma College, and in Horticulture from Oklahoma State University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University, and is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Oklahoma City University. Betsy writes a weekly newspaper column for the Guthrie News Leader titled "Guthrie Gardening" and occasionally submits articles to Oklahoma Personal Defense under the title "Law Enforcement Perspective" for their monthly newsletter. She is a member of the Red Dirt Writer's Society and the Oklahoma Writer's Federation Incorporated. Betsy has two grown children and one grandchild. She and her husband, George, live in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
