The Great Chili Con Carne Cook-Off

The Great Chili Con Carne Cook-Off is a charming story about learning life lessons in a very unexpected way. Teddy the Terrier, has won the prestigious title of Chili Con Carne King every year at the annual Cook-Off, held at the Grand Hall in Downtown Puppytown. He owes his success to his special SECRET INGREDIENT!

But Teddy's plans are soon dashed the day before the event, when Teddy's brother Mulligan, whose "tummy is always grumbly," has eaten all of the SECRET INGREDIENT, leading Teddy on a frantic search in hopes of finishing his prize-winning recipe to win the Cook-Off and claim his title again.

The story focuses on how, in those times when life sometimes doesn't go our way, we can practice letting go and finding forgiveness and kindness with others.

Teddy and Mulligan were real life pals that came to our family as young pups, and we spent many years together sharing love and countless adventures. They will always remain in our hearts and be remembered in our stories. This book is dedicated to them both.

Christie, Laurel: - Laurel Christie is a 1986 graduate of The Art Institute of Boston, and has won numerous awards for her painting, and also in private collections internationally. As a child, she was an avid reader and holds fond memories of snuggling next to her grandmother, reading from beautifully illustrated children's books. Dogs, cats and other critters were always an important part of the family, and she was inspired to write and illustrate a story, using two of her most beloved pets as the main characters, with the aim to teach children life lessons on winning and losing, as well as forgiveness and friendship.
