About the Author
After several years working in the corporate telecommunications industry, the author pursued his dream of becoming a police officer. In his decade plus of service in law enforcement, the author has had the opportunity to work basic patrol, special operations, traffic enforcement, gang units, fugitive apprehension, stolen vehicle task forces, and as a member and supervisor of narcotics and vice teams. These specialized functions and assignments afforded the author an opportunity to work closely with numerous State and Federal law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals Service, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Immigration Criminal Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. In addition to holding certifications as a law enforcement instructor and a field training officer, the author has earned a Bachelors degree from Charleston Southern University in Business Management and is currently completing a Masters degree in Organizational Structure and Behavior. Among his many citations and awards earned during his career is law enforcement, the author was awarded the law enforcement Medal of Valor by the International Association of Chiefs of Police for his actions in the line of duty. At the time of this book's publication, the author is on assignment in Afghanistan, embedded with the U.S. military as a civilian law enforcement instructor and advisor, training Afghan National Security Forces. The author possesses the training, experience and aptitude to deliver clear insight into the law enforcment profession and the criminal justice system in general, allowing you to understand your rights and be better prepared to successfully participate in the process.
