About the Author
Dorothy (Dot) Callihan is a civil engineer with over 30 years of experience in facilities management and construction. As a woman working in traditionally male roles she saw the shortcomings in how the male-dominated workplace functioned and began fixing them. Over time she realized that being a woman was the critical factor in her all of her successes. In 2012 Dot launched her website www.thewomanintheroom.com to share her experiences and knowledge to help other women advance in the workplace. Dot received her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and her Master's Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
