In this collection, authors were challenged to tell their own true story, and tell it in two pages. These artfully crafted "two-pagers," by writers at the cusp of recognition and fame, combine narrative nonfiction and flash fiction to create a new genre: flash nonfiction. Written with panache and power, the stories illustrate the genre's potential. Intelligent, accessible, and often poignant, this exciting array of voices is sure to impress and delight. About the Author
Steve "Spike" Wong grew up and still chills out in the state-of-being known as Santa Cruz, California. A high school English and Drama teacher for 38 years, he is on a mission: say it before you die. He has published work as varied as plays, academic work, ski writing, nonfiction short stories, and a small libretto or two. Speaking of two, he has that number of children, that number of marriages, that number of cameras, and that number of climbing boots. He has far more surfboards than necessary, and thinks of each session as a rebirth. He looks for the poetic in his writing, the powerful, purposeful and profane in his experiences, and love in every nook and cranny of life. Jan McCutcheon grew up in Western Pennsylvania where she distinguished herself as a world-class truant. Making up for her aggressive lack of academic interest in high school, she went on to spend more time in community college than most students have been alive. Jan is currently working on a memoir that is a dark comedy about family, death, and the mafia. She lives in San José with her engineer husband, snarky teenage daughter, and very good dog.
