About the Author
Dr. Alfred S. Posamentier is currently Dean of the School of Education at Mercy College, New York, and previously Distinguished Lecturer at New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York. He is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education at The City College of the City University of New York, and former Dean of the School of Education. He is the author and co-author of more than 45 mathematics books for teachers, secondary and elementary school students, and the general readership. Dr. Posamentier is also a frequent commentator in newspapers on topics relating to education.

Dr. Daniel Ness is an associate professor at Mercy College. He is a specialist in the area of mathematics development. He is the lead author of Knowledge Under Construction: The Importance of Play in Developing Children′s Spatial and Geometric Thinking (Rowman and Littlefield) and co-author of The Importance of Average: Playing the Game of School to Increase Success and Achievement (Rowman & Littlefield). He is also the editor of two encyclopedias on education (M. E. Sharpe).

Dr. William Farber is currently an associate professor of Mathematics Education at Mercy College and the Director of the Dr. Charlotte K. Frank Mathematics Center, located on the campus of the City College of New York. As the Mathematics Education Specialist for the New York City Department of Education, Dr. Farber developed, conducted, and coordinated a multitude of customized professional development programs and activities pertaining to mathematics and mathematics education Pre-K - 12 for the New York City Schools. These professional development initiatives included the following programs: The ′Make It Happen′ Program - A middle school mathematics enrichment program; The Teacher Enhancement Academy in Mathematics (Project T.E.A.M.); The Real World Math Summer Institute; The Mid-Career Mathematics Teacher Training Program; The Kaplan and Petrie Institute for Leadership in Mathematics

Dr. Terri Germain-Williams is an adjunct faculty member in the school of education at Mercy College. She is a specialist on the standards movement. Her current research is on the Common Core State Standards and how they reflect trends in mathematics education.

Dr. Ingmar Lehmann is on the mathematics faculty at Humboldt University in Berlin and specializes in primary school teacher-training in mathematics. Dr. Lehmann has been heading the Student Mathematics Society for many decades and is co-author of numerous mathematics books.

Dr. Bernd Thaller
is a professor and Mathematical Physicist at the University of Graz′s Institute for Mathematics and Scientific Computing in Austria.
