About the Author
Festus Obiakor is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his research interests include self-concept development of at-risk learners, African American learners/urban learners, multicultural/psychology and special education, crisis intervention/behavior management, educational reform/program evaluation, and international education.

Obiakor has written more than 100 academic publications, including several books, and has published four volumes of poetry. He is on the editorial boards of many scholarly publications, and currently serves as co-editor of Multiple Voices and associate editor of Teacher Education and Special Education. Obiakor holds an M.Ed. degree in special education from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth. He received his M.A. in instructional psychology and his Ph.D. in special education from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces.
