About the Author
Linda Lyons has been a wife, mother, daughter, sister, actress, singer, songwriter, addiction counselor, legal assistant, business owner, college student and practicing alcoholic. Linda began her journey to recovery on September 3, 1988 and has been sober ever since. Soon, she discovered that her childhood abuse and neglect also earned her a seat in the meetings of ACoA, CODA, and Al-Anon. She credits her continuous sobriety to application of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, her Higher Power, the love of other addicts in the meeting rooms, who did love her until she could find some small measure of love for herself, and her successful marriage and partnership with her husband, Richard. Daily meetings for over 2 years were her self-imposed outpatient program, together with a newfound spirituality using affirmations and a growing faith in a Power greater than herself. In 2005, she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, graduating magna cum laude from California State University in Los Angeles. In 2003, she received a certification in Addiction Studies from the highly acclaimed addiction studies program originated by James L Crossen, Ph.D. The author's motivation to write a book on the application of 12 Step ideology began when she saw many people confused and unsure about how the Steps were relevant in their daily lives and recovery.
