About the Author
Alana Woods has helped writers polish their prose for years in her chosen career as an editor. She's a storyteller herself but not a prolific producer like other authors. It can take her years to be satisfied with the quality of a story. Her first three novels she viewed as practice and consigned them to the flames years ago. The ideas for her published books to date have come from jobs she has held. Her fourth and first published, AUTOMATON, won the Fast Books Annual Prize for Best Australian Indie Fiction. It's a legal thriller the idea for which occurred when she spent five years recording trials in the courts of the Australian Capital Territory. Her next, IMBROGLIO, is a contemporary intrigue mystery that sprang from an early job as a publications typist with the Weapons Research Establishment in South Australia. She continues to write from experience. She has two in the pipeline: one based on her insider knowledge of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission--she was its Director Publishing.
