About the Author
Allen Lawless served a 20-year U.S. Army career as first a cook, and then after one enlistment, as a euphoniumist/trombonist. His two stateside assignments took him to Ft. Devens, Massachusetts and Ft. Hood, Texas. He spent almost 15 years in Germany, however, and almost 9 of those years in Berlin with the 298th Army Band. Allen arrived in Berlin while the scourge of the Wall was still in place and stayed long enough to see it come down. Since his retirement from the Army 20 years ago, Allen has enjoyed a second career as a quality assurance professional in regulated industry. He has also continued his musical work and has added bass trombone and tuba to the list of instruments he plays, and is developing skills as a bassist, which makes his violist/violinist wife Margaret very happy indeed.
