An Evening With Abraham Lincoln
An Evening With Abraham Lincoln
This book was inspired by my portrayal of Abraham Lincoln given on numerous occasions over the years at churches, schools, civic groups, and clubs.
The setting for this, "An Evening with Abraham Lincoln," is in the office of the President of the United States in the White House in late December of 1863. All of the facts and stories depicted herein are true. Most of the dialogue and words are Lincoln's own.
Since the beginning of the great Civil War in April of 1861 with the firing upon Fort Sumter, the North had suffered a number of defeats, and Federal losses had been high. But things had begun to turn around by the middle of 1863, and the North had begun to see a number of victories by the end of that year at Gettysburg, Vicksburg, and at Chattanooga.
But here, in the quiet solitude of his office, before a small gathering of friends and well - wishers, Abraham Lincoln relaxes and reflects a little on his rise in politics to be elected President of the United State, some of the problems he has encountered in the Office of President, portions of some of his memorable speeches, as well as just some events and antidotes that have come to his mind and to which he feels like sharing.
Join him now as he shares his evening, and some memories and concerns with you!
