About the Author
I grew up west of Scone, graduated from Sydney University a long time ago and have lived a life on the land raising cattle and sheep and horses and helping my wife to raise five children, and we now have eight grandchildren. I still spend some time on the land where we raise Japanese Wagyu cattle, the Wagyu beef which you may have encountered on an expensive night out. I began writing in my fifties, much too late, and in the last few years I have attended workshops and writing retreats in India, Teagardens, Bali, Bowral, Fiji, Sydney, Byron Bay, - all have offered something new and exciting. I also swim in ocean marathons, in which I've done better lately because most of my age group are dead. Over recent years I have sent out short stories to various competitions, and to date nineteen of my stories have won recognition, and I've written a novel or two. BLACK SOIL is my first anthology of stories, and includes stories that have won: The Australasian Short Story Award, The Banjo Paterson Literary Award The Fellowship of Australian Writers short Literary Competition (the judge said 'this is the story every judge must long for') The E J Brady Short Short Story Award, etc.
