Estevan Oriol is a Mexican-American photographer made legendary by his work featuring brilliant black and white photos of Los Angeles urban, low-rider and gang culture. His new book, Bosozoku, collects both color and black and white photos featuring the Japanese youth motorcycle subculture known as 'Bosozoku'. Devotees ride insanely customized motorcycles, mainly Japanese road bikes, embellished with extravagant paint jobs and super-modified, often illegal mufflers, fairings and other customizations. Bosozoku motorcycles offer an aesthetic nod to American chopper culture, but with a highly unique look found only in Japan. This collection is a culmination of Oriol's photographs captured during many trips to Japan over the past 20 years.

About the Author
Oriol, Estevan: - Best known for his photographs of Los Angeles street life; low-riders, tattoos, musicians, rappers and beautiful women, Estevan Oriol began his career as a hip-hop club bouncer. He quickly segued into a position as tour manager for rap groups Cypress Hill and House of Pain, simultaneously developing a passion for photography, while traveling the world. With a nudge and an old camera from his father, renowned photographer Eriberto Oriol, Estevan began documenting life on the road and establishing a name for himself amid the emerging hip-hop scene.

Decades later, Oriol's sepia-toned oeuvre, juxtaposing the glamorous and the gritty aspects of Los Angeles culture has exploded, now encompassing portraits of famous athletes, artists and musicians as well as Latino, gang and tattoo counter-cultural movements. More recently, Oriol has successfully crossed over to directing music videos and has published four books; LA Women, LA Portraits, This is Los Angeles, and most recently Bosozoku, a monograph focused on the Japanese motorcycle subculture.
