I attended a private school and was constantly under pressure from my strict parents who believed being “sheltered” from the world was the only way to live a pure and healthy life.

I was repressed in everything that I did and as I grew up in this environment. I was never exposed to any of the harsh realities that most modern children today see by just turning on the television set.

But the day finally came, that I had to leave my hometown.

I had to leave this blanket of comfort that, Unbeknownst to me, was smothering all of my social development.

I was married very young, still a child in mind and body, and I was thrown into the city and the hard tough world that I could not understand, nor could I cope with alone.

During this time, I eventually met another woman, similar to me, and she became my guardian angel.

With her help, and by making the hard decisions I was able to overcome tragedy in my life and become the person I am today.

This screenplay was adapted from my true life story.

A story of how parents can mean well while doing harm that may take years to overcome.

This screenplay sends a positive message to parents who intend to place their children in private schools or home schools.

About The Author:

Doris Anne Beaulieu- Back in 1981, Doris became a certified community advocate, helping her community, from Tiny Todd group leader raising funds to benefit low-income kids and helping low-income families in areas that she was trained in. In 1984, she received a certificate for her volunteer service from the University Of Maine co-operative service—all about helping kids learn to cook and have proper nutritional values.

Doris then became the treasurer of the Task Force on Human Needs and became a member of the board of directors. She was also the vice president of the Maine Association of Independent Neighborhoods, working on pieces of legislation to help the community, as well as the vice president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lisbon Falls, helping vets and raising funds. Doris then spent many years doing voluntary work in schools and receiving many awards, starting with Head Start and then three different schools. She made costumes for plays, published kids’ personal classroom books, participated in fluoride treatment for one whole school weekly, and did her favorite classroom crafts. She would do crafts for holidays and weekly crafts on the learned subject of the week to help what they had learned to stick a bit better.
