Chasing Prophecy
Chasing Prophecy
Kirkus Reviews: "This is a stellar read for teens and adults, full of hilarious growing pains, tenderness, and a few surprises. Moser delivers an irresistible narrator in Mo Kirkland. Every page ripples with a controlled cleverness."
Mo Kirkland is the average teenager who, like most boys his age, struggles with self-confidence issues. He lives in Boulder Creek, Washington, a small, isolated mountain town that's famous for Bigfoot, a beast that Native American tribes refer to as Skookum. While Mo tries to navigate high school, he discovers that he has bigger problems, like crushing hard for a strange girl named Prophecy, who lives within a commune, cult-like group. When she suddenly vanishes, Mo learns that realistic monsters don't always hide in the woods. Sometimes they turn up much closer to home, and he must face these demons in order to save the girl of his dreams.
This romantic fiction thriller has it all, with a plot that's filled with drama, mystery, fantasy, suspense, love, adventure, and a surprising paranormal twist. This coming of age story is good for teens and young adults as it depicts a supernatural romance that's not steamy, with no inappropriate language. It's a contemporary novel that's a bit dark and edgy, as the small town in the book is about to become overrun by law breaking drug dealers. A criminal courtroom trial, bullying, and death make this a best modern read for today's time.
It's available in paperback and kindle formats. Great for men and women, and also appropriate for mature preteen boys and girls. It's an interesting and easy read with likeable and engaging characters. It makes an excellent choice for book clubs and for inclusion in high school and college libraries.
