About the Author
One evening, quite some time ago now, I held my hand under a desk reading lamp. Then I brought it closer to the light source, and to my eye, then took it further away. That moment, in a single insight, I understood that there was, and is, an answer, a single solution to all of the puzzling questions. This was, however, no totally "eureka" moment, but a good glimpse along a path so suddenly illuminated, that I knew there and then that it led to the correct understanding; a very-much simplified, but coherent description of everything. But as I said, I am not a professional physicist. I have no science qualification, nor do I belong to any scientific society. This makes it practically impossible to publish scientific material in any of the journals, or even to gain the attention of the scientific journalists, physicists or mathematicians. But not being a formally trained physicist has its advantages; the main one being that I was never indoctrinated into any particular train of thought, especially one of the many that lead to a remote siding where whole trains of thought simply shunt back and forth without ever getting to any destination. So it is only by means of modern self-publication do I stand any chance of bringing my insight, my theory to public attention. Therefore, I have written this book for just that - for the attention of the public, the huge amount of people who buy and read popular science publications, who watch science-based television programmes, who, like me, would love to understand.
