Holistic in its philosophy, Finding Your Voice offers easy-to-follow exercises for such preparatory measures as breathing and diction; it also ventures to teach readers to use singing as a metaphor for facing other challenges in their lives. Illustrations, exercises, and sheet music throughout.

About the Author
Carolyn Sloan has earned a reputation as a respected vocalist, educator, and composer, with experience in pop, jazz, and musical theater. She has used her classical training as a jumping-off point for inventing a singing technique that addresses the "whole" person. A graduate of New York University and the High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan, Ms. Sloan is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatist's Guild. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, actor Stuart Zagnit, and son Samuel. This is her first book.
