About the Author
Scott Bischke is a science writer and editor living in Bozeman, Montana. His previous books include CROSSING DIVIDES: A Couples' Story of Cancer, Hope, and Hiking Montana's Continental Divide (American Cancer Society) and TWO WHEELS AROUND NEW ZEALAND: A Bicycle Journey on Friendly Roads (Pruett Publishing--hardback; EcoPress--paperback). Scott and his wife Katie Gibson--a recurrent cancer survivor--have hiked, biked, and canoed in remote places in locations around the world including backpacking the length of the Continental Divide from Canada to Mexico, and hiking and canoeing the length of the Yellowstone River. A common thread in all the couple's travels has been their desire to seek the peace, solitude, and tranquility of the natural world. The couple seeks out people, places, and activities that reinforce their desire to live a life filled with positive energy. Perhaps more simply, they seek to live a life that reflects their gratitude for being alive each and every day. Along with his writing career, Scott has worked as a chemical engineering science researcher at three national laboratories, as an environmental engineer for a large electronics manufacturer, as the lab director for the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center, and as a science and technology facilitator specializing in Greater Yellowstone Area natural science issues.
