The singing of traditional hymns has almost disappeared from many churches, but these soul-stirring songs deserve to be preserved because they speak to our hearts in special ways. They focus our minds and hearts on God's presence, His love, His creation, and countless other facets of the mysterious Being we worship. There are other devotional books on hymns, but many of them are based on the history of the hymn or its writer. About the Author
Dr. Hoppe worked in secondary education as a teacher and counselor before earning her doctorate in higher education and entering the post-secondary academic world. She is president emeritus of Austin Peay State University (TN) and also served as president at Roane State College (TN) and Nashville State College (TN). She has co-authored and edited several books in higher education, including two on spirituality, as well as the biography of Maxine Smith (a civil rights leader from Memphis, TN), and a biography on Elvis Presley. In addition, she has authored self-help books and a devotional book.
