This second volume of poetry from poet and farmer Elizabeth Weaver-Kreider weighs the heart's open bowl, accepting both "the bright flowers and the white-hot stones," the beautiful and the challenging. The fury of war and the ache of loss and estrangement are set alongside the joy of the bright moment and the ecstatic blessing. "This," she says, "is the burden we choose to carry," bearing witness to the great pleasure and the deep pain of living in these times.
