About the Author
Robin Cohen is an established scholar in development studies and sociology, known best for his writings on migration, diasporas and globalization. His books include Migration and its enemies (2006), Global diasporas: an introduction (1997, rev. 2008) and Global sociology (co-author, 2000, rev. 2007, 2013). He has long been fascinated by islands, an interest continued over many years through visits, research trips and residence in Mauritius, St Helena and the Caribbean. He was Professor of Sociology at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and is now Emeritus Professor at the University of Oxford.
