About the Author
Kathryn Nermoe is the author of #1 Amazon Civics & Citizenship Bestseller and Amazon Leadership Top 12 Bestseller, "I've Got the Mission Statement, Now What? 8 Core Competencies for Transformational Leadership." Nermoe, who grew up in Iowa the daughter of an evangelical preacher and a music teacher, is an organizational-leader-turned-engagement-evangelist. With a background in government and health care, Nermoe has held executive leadership positions in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Her book focuses on a common and pervasive thread woven between all three: The need for engagement - employee engagement, citizen engagement and donor engagement. Nermoe has never been one to embrace status quo. She sees the broad possibilities of both citizenship and organizational performance in today's rapidly changing economy; but only if leaders fully appreciate the impact social capital has on community and corporation. When organizations successfully engage their workforce, not only does it improve operational performance and profitability, it translates into an engaged society and stronger economy. Throughout her 17-year career, she has helped organizations implement the steps provided as solutions in her book. She contends companies that have the broadest leadership support to implement all eight steps can truly transform their organizations, the lives of their employees, the communities they serve and even their customers. In "I've Got the Mission Statement, Now What?" Nermoe integrates her personal experiences and a passion for organizational excellence with research. Nermoe holds a bachelor's in public administration and public relations from Minnesota State University, Mankato; a master's in public administration from the Hamline University School of Business, St. Paul; and a mini-masters in health care administration from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis. She is a marketing advisor for Sanford Health, the nation's largest rural, non-profit health care system. She is married with two step daughters and considers Sioux Falls, SD, The Apostle Islands, WI and North Caicos, BWI all home. Continue the conversation at facebook.com/CitizenCentered.
