About the Author
Chris Highland is a teacher, writer and social worker in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Chris has degrees in Religion and Philosophy from Seattle Pacific University and San Francisco Theological Seminary. He has taught and given presentations in many congregations, the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and Dominican University of California. He is an instructor at Cherry Hill Seminary. Chris has published six Nature meditation books beginning with Meditations of John Muir and has two autobiographical works, Life After Faith and My Address is a River. His blogs, essays, poems, photography and video can be accessed through www.naturetemple.net. For nearly twenty-five years, Chris was an interfaith chaplain with exceptional people on the edges of communities. Over the past two years he has been the director of the winter shelter program for houseless people in Marin County. His wife Carol is a progressive protestant minister and director of the Marin Interfaith Council.
