Letters from Ole Rocksvold
Letters from Ole Rocksvold
Containing dozens of never-before-published letters professionally translated from Norwegian, Letters from Ole Rocksvold is a biography of immigrant and Civil War veteran, Ole Rocksvold, written by his great granddaughter. Ole fought for the Union at the "Hornets' Nest" at Shiloh, was a prisoner of war, and participated in several other battles. Fourteen poignant wartime letters are included, all but one sent to his sweetheart and future wife, Anne. A person of intelligence, determination, and conviction, he went on to be a successful farmer, postmaster, and father of ten. Having helped establish Glenwood Lutheran Church near Decorah, Iowa, Ole was an active participant in his community throughout his life.
