Lois is a bright and inquisitive little girl. She is the second youngest in a large family with 11 siblings, so to say she sometimes gets left out would be an understatement. Quiet and sensible Lois was secretly her dad's favorite. She loves her daddy and looks forward to the little surprise gifts he sometimes brings after his long workdays driving his dump truck and being volunteer Fire Chief for their little town. One simple task challengers her determination. What Lois does not know is that life is full of unpleasant surprises just around the corner.
