NYC Street Photography ... It's the Joint is a collection of 10 of New York's most prolific street photographers today. Through their photography they tell stories from every corner of the city from the early '80s until the present day.

This book captures the soul of the city, from grime to glitter, stars, villains and everyone in between, people who together make New York what it is.

Brian Nobili's and Ricky Powell's first book as authors with Dokument Press is also the first volume of their NYC Street Photography book series. This work also includes images by highly acclaimed street photographers Jamel Shabazz, Joe Conzo, Sue Kwon, Cheryl Dunn, Craig Wetherby, Akira Ruiz, Peter Pabon, Estevan Oriol and SDJ. With the hardcover's overall concept created by the world renowned Bronx artist CES, even this book's exterior is a work of art.

The concept began when they participated in The Rickster's All-Star Classic Group show at MILK Studios to celebrate Ricky Powell's 50th birthday show in 2011. This show could have been a solo show for just Ricky, but instead he chose a group photography event showcasing the works of 1/3 living legends 1/3 regular photographers and 1/3 rookie phenomena. Showing those images together in one single show generated attention of the who's who in entertainment as well as excitement worldwide. This book has a similar approach in that it presents a strong group of all-star photographers with all 5 of NYC's Boroughs represented through carefully curated pictures. What makes this book exciting is that it presents the work of photographers who are all recognized and respected within the genre in NYC itself and beyond.

Features personalities such as Chloe Sevigny, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Paul Newman, Big Daddy Kane, Sophia Coppola, and more...

About the Author
Nobili, Brian: - Brian Nobili is a recognized producer and street photographer working out of the Bronx's Little Italy neighborhood. His works have been featured in the press worldwide since 1995. He has also appeared (above the fold) in the NYT, Infamous mag, NBC/Universal, Juxtapoz, Frank 151, The Source, 12ozprophet, AdAge and Freeman's Auction house. While his first client was NASA, Nobili prefers his work out on the streets of the Bronx creating lasting time capsules before gentrification changes take hold in NYC's last holdout Borough.Powell, Ricky: - Ricky Powell is an individualist recognized as a living legend in his own apt and the world at large. Known for his environmental portraiture, Powell's photographs focus on the organic New Yorker. His photographs simultaneously convey intimacy and detachment as they provide a unique lens through which the viewer can analyze the mundane. Powell considers the relationship between the photographer and the photograph to be "a chemical connection of some sort". The connection between Powell and his camera is only further stimulated by Greenwich Village, where he currently resides.Oriol, Estevan: - Estevan Oriol is an internationally celebrated professional photographer, director and urban lifestyle entrepreneur.
