The Grasmere saga is the love story of an African/Native American woman and a mixed man of Jewish Heritage and their trials and triumphs as they sought to overcome the environment of post reconstruction southern America, and later, the industrialized north. In this book, the sequel to "Prepare for Us a Season", the love story of George Washington Cohen and his wife, Theresa, continues as they embark on a new career for George, and a new life for both of them. George was brought in to help grow the thriving farms of John B. Hale, the Peach King. George brought great expertise in getting the best out of peach trees, and Hale recognized the gift and groomed him to move the family business into the rising cigar leaf tobacco business. In time George would develop his own farm, and his genius as a farmer and as a businessman would catapult him into some circles that were not too welcoming. In the background, there is a fascinating review of the industry that drove this critical period of central Connecticut and American history. During this time, the underlying theme of the love between these two takes them through the peaks and valleys as their family grew along with the complexities of their lives. You will laugh and rejoice with them; you will cry and struggle with them; but you will never forget them.

About the Author
Chuck Goode was born in Hartford, CT, in 1949, into a working class family that put great value on the importance of bringing honor to God and family. Influenced by a strong father, a loving mother, and an encouraging family, Chuck was able to navigate through the pitfalls and traps that ensnare so many in the inner-city. He showed creative gifts at an early age. An excellent student and athlete, he received many scholarship offers from universities throughout the country, but he cherished UConn. It was also the best opportunity to stay connected to his family. Family has always been a key element in his life, and a primary consideration in many of his life decisions. He and his wife, Cleta, are blessed with 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Though now residing in Virginia Beach, they love to gather at the old homestead, in Bloomfield, CT, where he still has a large and close knit extended family. Over the years, as his relationship with God grew, his writing became more inspired by revelations from The Spirit, and his deep love for his family. Most of his work involves Godly encouragement, and many of his works were birthed in creating greeting cards and tributes for his family. He is the President of Goode God Greetings. (www.goodegodgreetings.com) In 2011, he completed an epic novel, "Our Season in Grasmere". It has since been published as two novels: "Prepare for Us a Season" and "Our Season in Grasmere". Chuck formulated his publishing company, Goode God Publishing, and published his first book, "Whispers Just Before Dawn", an anthology of poems, essays, and letters, in 2013.
