About the Author
Kimberly Mayes is the Founder & Chief Empowerment Officer of The Kimberly Renay Company, which houses several entities focusing on the health and well-being of survivors of sexual abuse. Kimberly's interest in the emotional and spiritual prosperity of women began the day she decided to stand as a survivor rather than a victim of sexual abuse. In her quest to become a whole woman through Christ, Kimberly knew it was her purpose and passion to enter the helping profession. Kimberly decided to center her passion of helping others in the very area she saw a need, survivors of sexual abuse struggling to make their lives meaningful. It was during her graduate studies at Clark Atlanta University she furthered her knowledge in researching the astonishing low-rates of sexual abuse reporting and the lack of supports for African-American sexual abuse survivors. As a result, An Examination of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Risky Sexual Behaviors Which Lead to Disease, Depression, and Suicide Among African-Americans: Implications for Culturally Sensitive Social Work Practice was written. Kimberly has a unique way of reaching women who are survivors of sexual abuse, with authenticity and power. Kimberly is unwavering in supporting and empowering women to see their God-given beauty, worth, and purpose, despite her sexual abuse history. Kimberly currently resides in the beautiful state of Maryland and finds joy in traveling the world.
