This compilation traces the historical record of publications of the writings of Phineas Parkhurst Quimby; a nineteenth-century clockmaker who became a metaphysical healer and teacher. The collection begins with a Letter to the Editor of the Portland Advertiser Newspaper, Portland, Maine, written by Quimby, and published on February 14, 1862. The True History of Mental Healing follows this letter in 1887, by a former Quimby patient, Julius A. Dresser. Next, Quimby's youngest son George A. Quimby, wrote Phineas Parkhurst Quimby, a biographical sketch for the March 1888 issue of The New England Magazine. The Philosophy of P. P. Quimby follows this in 1895, and written by another Quimby patient, Annetta G. Dresser. Finally, Horatio W. Dresser's book, The Quimby Manuscripts, published in 1921 includes a substantial portion of Quimby's writings and rounds out our present publication. The Preface includes introductory remarks by independent Quimby student and scholar, Ronald A. Hughes.
