Plain Language: Clear and Simple gives you the tools to make your writing clear and effective. It covers such plain language principles as organizing information for your reader, writing clear sentences and paragraphs, thinking about your choice of words, and testing your document with your audience.

This Government of Canada publication was issued to all federal public servants after it was first published in 1991. Despite its age, it is still one of the best resources for writers and editors who want to communicate efficiently. Because the department that first produced Plain Language: Clear and Simple no longer exists, plain language advocates are making this handy guide available on a cost-recovery basis, as allowed by Crown Copyright and Licensing.
