About the Author
Elsie Johnstone was originally a primary school teacher and special education specialist. Over the years she also worked as an office cleaner in London, kitchen hand, shop assistant, waitress, photographer, Avon sales representative and betting shop clerk. In 2001 she quit her job as a teacher and joined her husband Graeme in their business venture, The Wordsmith's Shop, a unique establishment that wrote everything from personal letters to books for a wide range of clients. This experience encouraged her to develop her writing skills. Her first book, Our Little Town, is a snapshot of life in the Victorian fishing village of Lakes Entrance across four generations. She and Graeme then worked on Lover, Husband, Father, Monster, a chilling tale set in Dublin of a well-meaning marriage that goes wrong. Elsie wrote Ma's Garden, a novel about the growth of the small Victorian town of Trafalgar, centred on the launch of the local newspaper there in 1902, before developing Rainbow over Narre Warren. She also has had success as a short story writer, winning awards for her snapshots of life, turning often real incidents and events into engaging stories with a twist.
