About the Author
Wicks, Maris: - Maris Wicks lives in sunny Somerville, Massachusetts. She is the author behind Human Body Theater, as well as the illustrator of New York Times Bestselling Primates, with Jim Ottaviani. Wicks has also created comics for Spongebob Comics, DC and Marvel. When Maris is not drawing comics, she can be found prepping slides for her collection of vintage microscopes.Flood, Joe: - Joe Flood is a comic book author and illustrator whose work includes Cellies, Pirates of the Caribbean and Orcs: Forged for War. For the Science Comics series, he collaborated on Dinosaurs: Fossils and Feathers with MK Reed and wrote and illustrated Sharks: Nature's Perfect Hunter. He lives with his wife and daughter in New York's Hudson Valley.Zakroff, Casey: - Casey Zakroff is a marine ecophysiologist (he studies how animals' bodies function and interact with their environment), researching how stress impacts marine invertebrates (especially squid and other cephalopods!). He is also an avid science communicator, and, now, comics author. Growing up on the coasts of Florida and Maine, he pursued a passion for the ocean, going tidepooling and whale watching, and eventually scuba diving in reefs across the world. He has a PhD in Biological Oceanography from MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), which he was working on when he wrote Science Comics: Whales, his first graphic novel.
