Stones of Mirethi: The Lost Prince

Ashan is a bound slave tasked with delivering a package under suspicious circumstances. When the delivery goes pear-shaped, he must flee for his life, both from his crazed master and from those who expected the package. He finds himself fleeing soldiers, vampires, living corpses, and the only place he has ever known. He finds aid in the unlikely arms of a lizardman sorcerer, another slave, and a group trying to unseat the paranoid High King Hotar.
Argel, subjugated into magical servitude by her witch Aunt Mary, desires freedom in any way possible - even death. When Ashan runs afoul of Mary, Argel sees her chance and begs for release.

As High King Hotar sends troops after the assassin, aided by the mischievous shadow man, Ras'vetra, Ashan learns of a war looming over the horizon and a plot to frame his friend as an assassin.
