The Adventures of Oliver Twist is a classic novel by Charles Dickens, first published in 1838. It tells the story of a young orphan boy named Oliver Twist, who is born in a workhouse and raised in poverty. After being mistreated and abused by the people who are supposed to be taking care of him, Oliver runs away to London, where he falls in with a gang of thieves led by the notorious Fagin. Along the way, he meets a cast of colorful characters, including the kind-hearted Mr. Brownlow, the evil Bill Sikes, and the beautiful but tragic Nancy. Through his adventures, Oliver learns about the harsh realities of life in Victorian England, and ultimately discovers the true meaning of family and friendship. The novel is a powerful social commentary on the poverty, crime, and injustice of Dickens' time, and remains a beloved classic of English literature to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
