LeRoy James Leishman, boy wonder, changes the world with his invention of wire photos. No longer needing to wait a day or two for the photo to accompany the news article, newspapers across the nation subscribe to the Leishman Telegraph Picture Service, bringing the miracle of instant photos to reality. The Forgotten Genius chronicles the life and discoveries of Leishman from his childhood mathematical inventions, used in schools and universities, to a stereo-scopic fluorscope and X-ray spot film device. Holding over 40 United States patents, including for television and natural color by wire, Leishman becomes a popular speaker and demonstrator of his theories at a time of excitement over the prospects of the latest wonder. The Forgotten Genius, written by Leishman's daughter, Dorothy Leishman Varney, author of the trilogy "California Gold," reveals the genius's amazing discoveries, his confidence in their success, as well as his human side at home.
