The development of Jewish history has been a complex process with religious, political and economic elements which Enrique J. Dunayevich has woven into a rich tapestry. Most scholars until now have used the Bible as their primary source when researching ancient Jewish history reflecting important historical limitations. What has long been needed without questioning the Bible's moral values, is a comprehensive examination of additional and non traditional sources, including extra-biblical documents and archeological discoveries. After years of painstaking original research, and finding new meaning in the work of traditional scholars, author Enrique J. Dunayevich has produced a most intelligent study of the Jewish people and their ancient history. His cogent analysis ties together: How commerce and trade was the instrument through which the Jews developed in a restricted geographic enclosure How the Diaspora developed during the Hellenistic period The beginning of antiSemitism "The Jews in the Weave of the Ancient Empires" is a fascinating treatise that provides a clear concise history full of rich detail, of interest to academic historians and history buffs alike.
