He is the recipient of an NIH/NLM Grant for Scholarly Writing in Biomedicine and Health. His books include Global Health in Africa: Historical Perspectives on Disease Control (2013), edited with T. Giles-Vernick, and Humanity's Burden: A Global History of Malaria (2009).
