Later he reveals the difficulties he faced by crossing racial lines with his lifelong love, and his relationship with an aristocratic grandfather whose involvement with a secret organization that's sole purpose is wealth, power and keeping the dream of Southern independence alive. From the shadows the conspiracy broadens, and a split within the organization unveils a rogue group led by a rival family, the Whittington's, who threaten to unseat the Conner's and change history for us all.
