The State of Us

While stranded at an airport on New Year's Eve during a snowstorm, Olivia meets Jamie.

She is an aspiring writer on her way to see her estranged father again for the first time in years. He is a palliative care nurse returning to care for his grandfather who is chronically ill. After spending just one night together at the airport and going their separate ways, Jamie and Olivia begin a long-distance relationship despite being on opposite ends of the country in Seattle and New York.

The grief they carried felt smaller and lighter somehow, so they hold on to the belief their lives are threaded together against the odds for a reason-the something that was missing before finding each other.

As time passes and the thousands of miles between them test their relationship and commitment, Jamie makes a promise to end the distance and be wherever Olivia is, but they must decide if the sacrifices they're making along the way are bringing them closer to a future together or only pushing them further away from the people they want to be.
