The only company Madelyn has had throughout her 10 years in the Far Forest has been the Jewelclaw Panthers. Madelyn is a strikingly attractive teenage girl. There is more to her than meets the eye, and she has managed to hold her own. She fights so hard to keep her past hidden and pushed to the back of her mind, but sometimes it's impossible to prevent memories from emerging.

Now that Kyle, Karina, and Jackson, three lost campers, have strayed too far from their campsite, Madelyn's world has been turned upside down. She offers to assist them in returning to Bermit, the capital of Termo, their place of origin. Fortunately, it's close by and on the edge of the forest, but for someone in Madelyn's situation, it's not surprising that the journey takes a turn no one anticipated and they end up travelling further than any of them had ever thought.
