About the Author
James Alan Egan is a historian and videographer living in Newport Rhode Island. He is the curator of the Newport Tower Museum, which explains his thesis about the origin of the Newport Tower. Egan asserts it was designed by John Dee to be the city-center of the first Elizabethan Colony in the New World. The Tower got built in 1583, but the colonization effort failed. The Tower was abandoned, only to be rediscovered by the early Rhode Island colonial settlers in the 1630's.
