About the Author
Amina Abdullah, PhD, is the Program Lead for the Human Services program at Saint Leo University's Newport News Center in Virginia. She holds a PhD in human services from Capella University. Dr. Abdullah has over 20 years of combined practical experience as a human services professional from positions held in academia, telecommunications, health care, and health insurance. In addition, she serves on the board as the State Representative at Large for Virginia with the Southern Organization for Human Services, is the President of the International PhD Sisters Association (IPSA), and is the founder of the PhD Sisters Support Group on Facebook as well as the Pi Eta Delta Sorority. She also assists Custodians of Faith, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), with program initiatives, marketing, branding, and volunteering. She is a published author of the series "Their Journey to the PhD", a collection of stories from individuals who earned a doctoral degree. She is committed to advocating for and empowering young women. The PhD Sisters Group (The Sisterhood) is the original support group open to all women who are completing or who have completed their PhD/doctoral program. The Sisterhood includes more than 900 members who engage in discussions about the PhD process, strategies for completing the program, and balancing life in terms of home, work, family, and school.
