About the Author
My name is David J. Harvey. I was raised in Lewistown, Montana where I attended an Assembly of God church. I attended Northwest Bible College in Kirkland, Washington from 1974 until 1976. I continued my education at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Education in 1979. I have served in many churches throughout the United States in a pastoral position. Eventually I moved to San Jose, California in 1986 to begin the quest to discover if the Bible and Homosexuality were compatible. I am the founding pastor of Celebration Of Faith, Praise and Worship Center in San Jose, California, which was established in September 1994. Celebration of Faith is a non-denominational ministry of reconciliation, proclaiming liberation to all people. I have worked in various non-profit organizations and completed my Master's program in Business Management in 2003. I began full time ministry in 1975 as a Youth and Music Minister in the Assemblies of God church in Kenmore, Washington while attending Northwest Bible College. I continued to serve in various Assemblies of God churches in Washington State, Kansas, Montana, and California until founding Celebration of Faith in l994. I was honored to be chosen as the Grand Marshall of the 2007 San Jose Pride festival because of my many contributions to the LGBT community and various non-profit organizations. Celebration of Faith is a member of the Allies of Christian Churches, T.E.N. (The Evangelical Network), Coalition of Welcoming Congregations, and the Santa Clara Council of Churches.
