Kachru, Braj: - Braj Kachru (1932 2016) spent most of his career at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and served as Head of the Department of Linguistics (1968 1979), Director of the Division of English as an International Language (1985 1991) and Director of the University's Center for Advanced Study (1996 2000). He became the Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Illinois in 1992, and the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Visiting Professor at Hong Kong University in 1998.
